#MetGala Review

So about yesterday, you know, that huge fashion event called Met Gala. For folks who don’t know what the Met Gala or Met Ball is about, it’s a benefit that is held by  Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute that helps fund the fashion department of the institute. This event is held the first Monday in May. It also exhibits what the theme will be for this year’s costume exhibit at the museum.

This year’s theme for the Met Gala is Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology. The hosts for this year’s ball was Anna Wintour, Editor-in-Chief of American #Vogue and Pop superstar, Taylor Swift. As well as Oscar nominated actor and my husband, Idris Elba and Chief design for Apple Inc., Jonathan Ivy.

The detail on Anna Wintour’s Chanel couture Spring 2016 dress was of elegance and regal. Lots of 15th century character.

Celebrities at Met Gala 2016

Selena Gomez sported a polka dot dress with a Louis Vuitton black leather halter and combat boots. It was cute but not what i would consider in theme.

Nicki Minaj was in a black buckled Moschino dress with black and blonde tresses. Of course she was with Jeremy Scott.

Sarah Jessica Parker was Pirates of the Caribbean chic with her ‘Hamilton’ inspired ensembles. Yes, i know it was completely off theme for the Ms. SJP but she said in an interview with T Magazine that she struggled to find inspiration with this year’s theme. Check out the interview here.  Sarah Jessica Parker- Hamilton Met Gala look

Ciara was looking lovely with her custom H&M dress with silvery wavy pixie wig to compliment the look.

Lala and Carmelo Anthony in a Nicolas Jebran Swarovski custom gown.

Kim and Kanye West was in custom #Balmain

Beyonce’ in her go to designer, Givenchy. This was one of my favs of the night
